In 1986, the UN General Assembly named December 5th International Volunteer Day.

Today is a day for "volunteers and organizations to celebrate their efforts, to share their values, and to promote their work among their communities." If you have been looking for a way to give of your time this holiday season, today is a great day to start! Many anti-trafficking organizations rely on volunteers to perform necessary services. Our Anti-Slavery Directory can provide suggestions if you're not sure where to start looking. There may even be an organization in need of a person like you close to where you live, or one that will allow you to volunteer remotely!
